My Shiny Red Truck

My name is Toby.  I'm in the second grade.  On the first day of the week, I take a truck to school.  That is our share day.  Since I have many trucks, I take a different one each time.  My favorite truck is bright red with shiny rims.  The tires are huge, and they make the truck look very small.

On one particular share day, my favorite truck was missing.  Who could have moved it?  I put it in the coat room where I hang my coat.  Miss Johnson asked the whole class if the saw my bright, red truck.  No one said they saw it.  Where could it be?  I remember that Gary really liked my truck, as did all the boys in my class.  Did someone take it?  I felt like crying, but I didn't want to be embarrassed.  Who could have moved it?  Trucks can't walk!  It was there when I went out for recess.  When I came back in, it was gone!  Miss Johnson knew I was upset, so she called my mom.

We had a search all over the room.  Then my mom said we should search inside every coat.  And guess what?  My truck was in Gary's pocket.  He looked so sad that he was found to be the one who took it.  Miss Johnson called his mother.  He had to apologize to me in front of the whole class and his mom took him home.  He had to stay home for three days.

All the kids were talking about the whole thing.  Some of them wanted to label him a theif.  Finally, I told them to stop and we must forgive him and let it go!  When Gary came back to school, I gave him my favorite truck.  He was very surprised!  All the kids were surprised to.  I wanted them all to see that a person is more important than any toy.  I hope they all see that asking for something is better than taking it.

The End.
